Why designing underfloor heating is hard
Pipe layout design requires paid CAD-like software. You need training, a licence, and a specific Windows machine. For a single project, that's often too much overhead.
Without such a tool, installers sketch on paper and estimate pipe length from experience. A wrong estimate means buying too much or too little pipe, incorrect spacing, cold spots on the floor, and a complaint from the client.

Can I choose serpentine or spiral?
Yes. Draw the pipe layout directly on the plan, serpentine or spiral. Calculations update as you go.
Does the result include pipe length and spacing?
Yes. For every zone the app works out area, pipe length, pipe spacing and heating output - automatically, on every change. On a free account you see those figures for one room; the rest are unlocked with a report.
What does HeatAlgo cost?
Your account is free forever - draw and calculate without limit, no card required. On a free account one room comes back fully calculated; the spacing, the remaining loop lengths, the flow rates and the printable floor plan are unlocked with a report: €25 per project, or unlimited on the Installer subscription from €83.25/mo billed annually.
Can I design multiple floors?
Yes. For each floor you upload a separate plan and draw the zones independently, inside one project. Floors imported from the heat load calculation are created for you; on a free account, adding one by hand needs the project unlocked.
What is the maximum loop length?
The limit depends on pipe diameter and counts the run to the manifold: for 16x2 pipe HeatAlgo warns from 80 m and hard-stops at 90 m, for 17x2 from 90 m and 100 m. You can split a zone into smaller loops - just remember each one carries its own run, so a split divides the pipe in the room, not the distance to the manifold.
Can I change the pipe spacing?
Yes. For each zone you can set a different spacing. The system recalculates the layout automatically after every change.
Does the result include material requirements?
Yes. The app works out the exact pipe length and square metres for every zone - ready to order against. The combined schedule and the individual loop lengths are unlocked with a report.
