Underfloor heating not working in one room? Check heat loss and loop flow first - 5 causes in order

Underfloor heating not working in one room? Check in order: the room's heat loss against the floor's output, loop flow, flow temperature and floor covering.

Releases

Update: underfloor heating drawn for you, the app in five languages and new PDF reports

Algo AI reads the floor plan and the app draws the underfloor heating. The app now speaks German, French and Dutch, and PDF reports have a new print design.

How much insulation under underfloor heating? What the minimum sends downwards, calculated

Insulation under underfloor heating: with only the EN 1264-4 minimum (R 1.25) the water sends an extra 18.4% of the room's heat down; on a U 0.30 floor, 7.4%.

Answers

Underfloor heating screed depth: does a thicker screed reduce output? 30-80 mm calculated

Screed depth for underfloor heating: at 35/30 °C, 15 cm and tiles, 30 mm over the pipe gives 43.7 W/m², 45 mm 41.5, 65 mm 38.8 and 80 mm 36.8.

Can underfloor heating be the only heating? Yes, but the hardest rooms set the water temperature

A 102.2 m² house with UFH at 15 cm under tiles: 35/30 °C covers 3 of 8 rooms, 38/33 °C covers 6, and 40/35 °C covers them all. Room by room.

What size heat pump do I need for a 100 m² house? 4.38 kW calculated, not 8-10

What size heat pump do I need for 100 m²? A calculated 102.2 m² house needs 4.38 kW at -20 °C; sizing looks for 4.91 kW. The 80-100 W/m² rule says 8.2-10.2 kW.

Underfloor heating flow meter settings: what each loop should read in l/min

Underfloor heating flow meter settings: not 1.5 l/min everywhere. On one floor at 43/38 °C the loops need 0.53 to 1.41 l/min. Formula: 0.86 × W / K.

Answers

How much underfloor heating pipe for a 100 m² house? 799 m in the floor, 1000 m on the order

A 102.2 m² house with UFH at 15 cm: 799.3 m of pipe in the floor, 865.03 m on the materials list, 1000 m bought in coils. The 6.7 m/m² rule misses the runs.

Releases

Update: a bill of materials, one-module reports and Algo AI in every field

Underfloor heating now works out what to order from the merchant, a report can cover one or two modules, and one Algo AI reading fills three modules.

Answers

Is underfloor heating enough in a bathroom? Only just at 35/30 °C, yes at 40/35 °C

At 35/30 °C a floor gives 34.37 W/m² in a 24 °C bathroom; the example bathroom needs 38.43 W/m². 10 cm spacing covers it just, and only with the whole floor.

Releases

Update: Algo AI reads the building design, party walls and My library

Algo AI fills the heat loss calculation from the building design, party walls count against the neighbour, and underfloor heating gets a new panel.
