HeatAlgo has three fixed elements: the Start page, the side menu on the left and the top bar. Everything else - projects, modules, Algo, settings, billing - opens from them. This article describes what is where, so you do not have to search.
The Start page
Start opens after signing in and from the "Start" item in the side menu. On it you find:
- a greeting with the number of active projects and the "New project" button,
- the field "Tell Algo what to do in your project..." - a question for Algo, with ready suggestions ("Find what is missing in a project", "Create a new project", "What can you do in heatalgo?"),
- "Tasks" on a new account: first project, first calculation, the client form, company details, the logo on the PDF, "Who you are", using Algo - each with a link to the right place,
- "Recently edited" and "Other projects" with the "Continue" (opens the module you last worked in), "Open" and "Start" buttons,
- the "Your brand" card with the logo and company name, and "What's new" - announcements about changes in the app,
- the "Guides" section with links to the help center.
On a brand-new account, Start shows the four modules with a short description - you start with any of them, and the app remembers your progress.
The side menu
The side menu (hidden behind the menu button on a narrow screen) has the items: "Start", "Algo AI", the "Projects" section with a plus for creating and the project list, and "Settings". Every project on the list expands to "Project overview" and the four modules: "Heat load calculator", "Heat pump selection", "Underfloor heating", "Heat recovery ventilation" (with a beta badge). The "All projects" item leads to the full list. You collapse the menu with "Hide menu" and expand it with "Show menu".
At the bottom of the menu is the account card with the plan name ("Free account", the number of credits, or "Subscription active") and the "Full access" box with the "Unlock" button, which you can hide for 30 days.
The top bar
The top bar holds the breadcrumb (project, module, step), the "Back" button, the "?" icon with help for the current screen (only where such help exists), the "Algo AI" button, the notification bell and the account menu.
The account menu (top-right corner) contains: "Settings", "Plan and billing", "Help center", "What's new" (the changelog), "Send feedback", "Email us", "Language", a "Learn more" submenu with "Facebook group" (the HeatAlgo installers' community), "Terms of service" and "Privacy policy", and "Sign out". Module help is not a menu item - it is the "?" icon in the top bar.
In a module the top bar has the module's buttons on the right: module settings (the cog icon: "About this module", "Data sources", "Module data" with "Clear data") and the export actions.
The project dialog: Ctrl+K
Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on a Mac) opens the "Projects" dialog from anywhere: a list of recent ones, a "Search projects" field, and next to every item whether the project is unlocked. The arrow keys select, Enter opens, Esc closes. A name with no match offers "Create project "name"". Details in the article on projects.
The module wizards
The heat load calculator, pump sizing and ventilation are wizards: above the form you see "Step X of Y" and the list of steps, in which you go to any step; below the form are "Back" and "Next step". The "N to fix" chip collects fields to complete with "Fix" buttons, and the "Blocks the calculation" label says what stops the result. The step number is in the page address, so you can save a link to a specific step. Underfloor heating has no wizard - it is one canvas with a toolbar, a side panel and the "This floor" guide, which shows what is done and what blocks the next step.
All modules save automatically - there is no save button. What you see when saving has a problem is in the article on troubleshooting.
Notifications
The bell in the top bar opens the "Notifications" inbox with categories (message, news, system, activity) and the "Mark all as read" and "Clear all" buttons. Some announcements appear as a pop-up with a "Next" button. Which messages also come by email you set in Settings.
Feedback, help and contact
"Send feedback" in the account menu has three forms: "Report a problem" (a screenshot is attached automatically), "Suggest a module" (which tool is missing) and "Email us" (questions and account matters; we reply by email, usually within 24 hours). "Help center" leads to the guides on heatalgo.com, and "What's new" to the changelog.
Phone, tablet, computer
Projects, the project view, the heat load calculator, pump sizing, the client form, Algo, settings and billing work on a phone. Drawing in underfloor heating and the "Ducts" step in ventilation need a larger screen - a computer or a tablet; on a phone you see the screen "The mobile view is not supported yet" with a contact button. The other steps of the ventilation wizard work on a phone.
A new version of the app
When we release a new version while you are working, a bar appears at the top: "A new version of HeatAlgo is available - reload to switch to it" with a "Reload" button. Your changes are saved, so reloading loses nothing.
